Please take advantage of this golden opportunity to refine your essay writing skills, revise your drafts, and use the library.
The Writing Centre is a place where any UCCI student can get one-on-one assistance with any writing assignment. You sign-up for a session with one of our writing tutors, each session lasting no more than 45 minutes. Tutors can assist you with any stage of writing in any subject.
Sign up for your tutoring sessions at the front desk of the Library, selecting a time and tutor. In the near future, selecting a tutoring session will happen online through WCONLINE. Once you have a booking, show up for your appointment on time with your assignment and any writing you have done, preferably a print-out. At the end of each session, your tutor writes a report on what was discussed, provides a copy to your instructor, and files a copy as background information for future tutoring sessions.
The Writing Centre is not an editing service. You cannot drop off papers for proofreading, and tutors will never discuss issues relating grades. Tutors do not “correct” or “fix” your writing; rather, they sit and work with you to help improve your writing process using the writing you bring in to discuss.
We are located in the Sam Basdeo Learning Resource Centre (the library) in Library Room 1. As you enter the library, it is the first door on your left. But, if you are unsure about where to go, please inquire at the circulation desk, and a library assistant will direct you to the room.
