Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Level 2

COURSE OUTLINE

Certification Body - National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)

This course aims to develop and build on the skill sets garnered at level 1 to efficiently work on HVAC installation job sites as an apprentice. Trainees will be able to install HVAC systems in structures such as homes, office/commercial buildings, and factories. As well as performing maintenance and repairs to the systems.

Pre-requisite – Successfully completed level 1

Course Outcomes (SLOs)

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Install, test, maintain and repair HVAC Systems
  2. Install different types of HVAC fixtures.
  3. Identify, install and repair various types of ventilation and HVAC Air distribution systems
  4. Measure, test, and modify indoor air quality (IAQ)
  5. Display knowledge of zoning, heating and cooling systems
  6. Identify, handle, test refrigerants and oils
  7. Identify, test, remove and replace air conditioning compressors and other motors
  8. Evacuate, recover, charge, and detect leaks on air conditioning systems
