The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) today announced a double partnership with sister properties, The Westin Grand Cayman and Sunshine Suites Resort, creating two scholarship streams that directly support Caymanian students and strengthen the classroom-to-career pathway in hospitality and related fields.
Both hotels are owned by Invincible Investment Corporation. Under the new agreement, The Westin Grand Cayman will fund tuition, fees, books, and materials for two Caymanian students enrolled at UCCI and pursuing careers in the hospitality sector. Sunshine Suites Resort will also support one student for the current academic year through a similar scholarship commitment.
The scholarships are open to Caymanian students enrolled full-time at UCCI. Applicants must hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, be in good disciplinary standing, and demonstrate a clear intent to build a career in the Cayman Islands. Each scholarship is awarded for one academic year and can be used toward tuition, fees, and required books or materials.
“Partnering with two sister properties to launch scholarships in the same academic year is a strong signal to Caymanian students,” said Dr. Livingston Smith, Acting President and CEO of UCCI. “It removes financial barriers, sets clear expectations, and connects learning to real industry opportunities.”
“Invincible Investment Corporation owns both The Westin Grand Cayman and Sunshine Suites Resort and invests in programmes that strengthen Cayman’s communities, workforce pipelines, and long-term economic resilience,” said Locksley Haylock, Director of HR for The Westin Grand Cayman and Sunshine Suites Resort. “We believe exceptional hospitality begins with investing in people. These scholarships reflect our commitment to Caymanian talent and to a future workforce that blends service excellence with academic achievement.”
Applications for the scholarships are now open, and eligible students are encouraged to apply. For full scholarship criteria, deadlines, and application details, visit www.ucci.edu.ky/financial-aid or contact the UCCI Admissions Office.
