The Fifth Annual Conference of the Caribbean Sociological Association (CASA)

CASA seeks to demonstrate the value of sociology in interpreting, understanding and resolving development problems in the Caribbean to improve quality of life through research, teaching, policy intervention and advocacy.

Theme: “Mobilizing Caribbean Sociologies: Bridging Theory, Methods, and Fields for Caribbean Sustainable Development.

Conference dates- September 24- 26, 2025

Conference begins at begins at 12: 30 pm on Wednesday the 24th

Keynote Presentation: 6 pm Wednesday the 24th

Keynote Speaker- Dr. Alissa Trotz, Professor of Caribbean Studies at New College and the Director of Women and Gender Studies, University of Toronto.

Topic: “Transnational Migration, Remittances, and Diaspora Engagement.”

Over 65 papers and plenaries to be presented covering:

  • Gender justice, feminist praxis, and women’s incarceration
  • AI and the future of education, employment, and research in the Caribbean
  • Caribbean family dynamics, caregiving standards, and community resilience
  • Youth development, sports as social intervention, and restorative wellbeing
  • Public health, welfare systems, fiscal equity, and environmental justice
  • Migration, identity, and diasporic belonging
  • Masculinities and cultural resistance
  • Decolonizing knowledge and indigenous belief systems
  • Crime, justice reform, and educational access for incarcerated populations
  • Entrepreneurship, digital divides, and technological inclusion

Registration fee: $50 CI for persons in the Cayman Islands. This includes lunch for the event days.
