The Senior Lecturer will develop and teach courses at the University College of the Cayman Islands especially at the certificate and Associate levels. While teaching will be main activity of the Senior Lecturer, this individual will also be selectively involved in multiple activities at both the departmental and broader university level. The Senior Lecturer will engage in some aspects of research and publication but, this is outside of contracted duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Master’s Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, or related Discipline.
- Have 2 to 4 years documented Hospitality work experience; supervisory and management experience would be an asset.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence with at least 6 years of documented teaching experience at the tertiary level.
- At least six years’ experience at student advising and mentoring;
- At least six years of experience in curriculum development;
- Experienced in developing and applying innovative and appropriate teaching and learning techniques.
- Proven ability to design and deliver courses at quality standards and regulations at the Tertiary level.
- Capacity to contribute to the development of academic processes across UCCI.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
- Capable of teaching in an online and hybrid environment.
- Ability to teach multiple courses in area of competence.
- Proactively resolves problems and builds strong team relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to collaborative and collegial processes.
ACCOUNTABILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE:
- Makes a contribution to the University’s undergraduate teaching programmes that are consistent with the University’s mission and core commitments.
- Designs, prepares, and develops teaching materials.
- Prepares and delivers lectures, seminars, and tutorials in accordance with the allocated teaching load.
- Responsible for marking, assessing, recording, and submitting results.
- Maintains student records and monitors student progress.
- Works collaboratively with the Director of the School of Hospitality to maintain and develop effective and efficient programme delivery.
- Ensures the quality of all department courses and programs in accordance with the guidelines of the UCCI Curriculum Committee.
- Develops and implements new methods of teaching to reflect changes in the Hospitality Industry.
- Supports students through an advisory role; and maintains office hours.
- Supervises students’ projects, research, internship and practicum activities.
- Prepare, train and coordinate students for events management opportunities e.g. food and beverage servers
- Work collaboratively with the Events Executive to ensure continuous and on-going communication regarding event planning/scheduling
- Performs other duties assigned by designee.
Compensation:
Salary Range: KYD $75,228.00– $83,040.00 per annum
Employer-covered medical; co-contributory pension and annual leave.
