Senior Lecturer-MATH

Overview:

The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Lecturer in Mathematics to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering quality courses primarily at the certificate and associate degree levels. This role plays a vital part in shaping the academic and professional success of our students while contributing to the broader goals of the University.

The Senior Lecturer will engage in teaching, curriculum development, student advising, and participate in departmental and university service activities. While research is encouraged, it is considered outside contracted duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prepare, and deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, tutorials, and workshops across a range of mathematics courses from developmental math through to calculus and statistics.
  • Design innovative and effective teaching materials and learning activities that promote student engagement and success.
  • Assess student coursework and examinations, maintaining accurate and timely records of student progress and performance.
  • Provide academic advising and mentoring to students, supporting their educational and professional development.
  • Supervise student projects, research activities, internships, and practicum placements.
  • Participate actively in faculty and university committees, contributing to curriculum review, academic planning, and quality assurance processes.
  • Engage in service activities such as advising clubs and societies, recruitment, orientation, and outreach events.
  • Promote an inclusive and student-centered learning environment, adapting teaching strategies for both in-person and online/hybrid modalities.
  • Uphold UCCI policies on professionalism, confidentiality, and workplace conduct.
  • Contribute to the academic reputation and community engagement of UCCI by participating in professional development and, where appropriate, research activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related discipline is required. A Doctorate is an asset.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of demonstrated tertiary-level teaching experience in mathematics, including experience teaching statistics.
  • Proven ability to teach a range of mathematics courses from developmental mathematics to advanced calculus.
  • Experience in curriculum development and the application of innovative teaching and learning techniques.
  • Strong student advisory and mentoring skills with at least six years of experience.
  • Ability to teach effectively in online and hybrid learning environments.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to student success.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Industry or commercial experience related to mathematics or computer science is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to contribute to service activities, including advising student clubs and participating in community outreach.

Compensation:

Salary Range: KYD $77,088.00 - $101,160.00 p.a (Grade I)

Employer-covered medical; co-contributory pension. and annual leave (25 days).
