Lecturer - Air Conditioning & Refrigeration

The Lecturer TVET develops and delivers courses primarily at the Certificate and associate degree levels within the University College of the Cayman Islands. The position is principally focused on teaching and learning activities while supporting curriculum development, student advising, programme delivery, and institutional service initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to the University's commitment to academic excellence by providing high-quality instruction, fostering student success, supporting co-curricular activities, and engaging in departmental and university-wide activities that enhance the student learning experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Technical certificate and training in HVAC with the ability to teach Construction Technology would be an asset;
  • Minimum of a master’s degree is preferred;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated teaching excellence and pedagogical competence at the tertiary level;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in student advising and mentoring;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in curriculum development;
  • Relevant commercial, industrial, technical, or professional experience will be considered an asset;
  • Proven ability to design and deliver courses that meet University quality standards and academic regulations;
  • Capacity to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of academic processes across the institution;
  • Proficiency in preparing and developing course materials and instructional resources;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel;
  • Ability to teach effectively in face-to-face, online, and hybrid learning environments;
  • Ability to teach multiple courses within area of expertise;
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Effective problem-solving abilities and the capacity to build strong team relationships;

ACCOUNTABILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE:

  • Designs, prepares, develops, and delivers lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, and other learning experiences in accordance with assigned teaching responsibilities;
  • Contributes to the University's undergraduate teaching programmes consistent with institutional goals and academic standards;
  • Develops and maintains high-quality teaching materials, assessments, and instructional resources;
  • Assesses student coursework, assignments, projects, and examinations and provides constructive feedback;
  • Monitors student progress and implements strategies to support student success and retention;
  • Provides academic advising, mentoring, and guidance to students and maintains regular office hours;
  • Supervises student projects, internships, practicums, and other experiential learning activities;
  • Collaborate with the Dean and faculty colleagues to ensure effective and efficient delivery programme;
  • Ensures the quality and continuous improvement of courses and programmes in accordance with University and Curriculum Committee guidelines;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean, Provost, President, or their designee.

Compensation:

Salary Range: KYD $65,640 – $72,420 per annum

Employer-covered medical; co-contributory pension and annual leave
