The Associate Professor – Finance and Economics is a senior academic appointment responsible for developing and delivering courses at the Associate, Baccalaureate, and graduate levels within the Business & Finance Division. The position contributes to academic excellence through high-quality teaching, curriculum development, research, scholarship, and service to the University and wider community. The successful candidate will provide leadership in programme initiatives, mentor junior faculty members, foster industry and business partnerships, and actively contribute to the growth of the University College of the Cayman Islands through scholarly, professional, and institutional engagement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Doctorate in Finance, Economics, Business, or a closely related field;
- Minimum of eight (8) years of demonstrated teaching excellence and pedagogical competence at the tertiary level;
- Established record of scholarly achievement through publications, book chapters, textbooks, and papers in recognized local, regional, and international journals;
- Demonstrated success in research, policy analysis, programme evaluation, technical assistance, and other scholarly activities;
- Experience in developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate-level courses and programmes;
- Experience building university, industry, and business partnerships;
- Demonstrated leadership in programme development and academic initiatives;
- Authoritative knowledge and expertise in Finance, Economics, and related disciplines;
- Membership of recognized professional organizations relevant to the discipline;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel;
- Proven ability to teach in face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning environments;
- Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and project management skills;
- Effective problem-solving abilities and a commitment to collaborative and collegial processes;
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills;
ACCOUNTABILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE:
- Designs, prepares, develops, and delivers Finance and Economics lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, and other learning experiences;
- Contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes consistent with the University's mission and academic standards;
- Assesses student coursework, examinations, and assignments and maintains accurate academic records;
- Monitors student progress and provides academic advising, mentorship, and support;
- Supervises student projects, research activities, internships, practicum placements, and graduate research;
- Ensures the quality and continuous improvement of Finance and Economics courses and programmes in accordance with University and Curriculum Committee guidelines;
- Provides mentorship, guidance, and professional support to junior faculty members;
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with industry, government agencies, professional organizations, and community partners;
- Conducts scholarly research, consulting, and professional projects that contribute to the University's research profile;
- Pursues grant opportunities and collaborates on research initiatives with local, regional, and international partners;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean, Provost, President, or their designee.
Compensation:
Salary Range: KYD $85,320 – $94,188 per annum
Employer-covered medical; co-contributory pension and annual leave
