Job Description

Reporting to the Director-Student Life, the Associate Director – Health and Wellness will support the overall management and implementation of comprehensive programmes that promote overall wellness and recreation by assisting with administrative projects and initiatives.

These include establishing strategic and measurable learning outcomes, staff supervision and development, budgeting, community relations, and creating an environment that is safe, fun, engaging, and meets the needs of students at all levels of health, fitness, overall and wellness. 

Specifically, day-to-day student enrichment and oversight in the areas of Extra-curricular activities, Clubs and Associations, Fitness programmes and workshops, Family support, SEN assistance, Student aid, Counselling & referral services and oversight of the Medical Bay. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred)
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in Youth Development, Counselling, and/or a tertiary environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in the development of student leadership, and strategies for achieving student learning; 
  • Desired qualifications include First Aid & CPR/AED Instructor Certification and a nationally recognized certification from CPAM, holding appropriate professional memberships in the field;
  • Knowledge of Charity/Community events and activities as well as effective public relations and networking abilities;
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills; demonstrated success working with diverse groups and demographics;

Responsibilities:

  • Builds a positive rapport with students, staff, and faculty by maintaining availability, visibility, and collegiality; Collaborates with all departments to align policies and programming efforts with the goals and plans needed to promote student involvement, student development, and retention. 
  • Manage and develop campus-wide inclusive programming for students that excites and encourages student participation from diverse populations to engage in appropriate recreation, fitness and wellness education and activities
  • Provide leadership and direction in maintaining a student development model for student assistants in Student Life as it relates to Health & Wellness learning through CPR certification, workshops, training instruction, and other development opportunities.
  • Support SEN needs for students and understand the effects of student programming on student development, retention, and success.
  • Receives all student referrals as it relates to Health and Wellness;
  • Acts as the Primary Child Protection Officer (CPO);
  • Oversee the coordination of Counselling Services;
  • Conduct D2L, CPO, Safe Environment, and Safeguarding (Staff & Students) training;
  • Development and implementation of campus-wide inclusive health & wellness programming that excites and encourages student participation from diverse populations; such as fitness programmes and informal recreation (e.g. club sports,5K runs/walks, yoga sessions), health fairs and lunch & learn workshops and webinars on nutrition/healthy living and mental health;
  • Oversight and maintenance of the Support Needs application database;
  • Ensures that SEN / ALN are met for desirous students;
  • Collaborates with the High School SENCO officers to ensure that all freshman students are supported;
  • Maintain relations with key external Agencies; such as MOE, DOE, Oncourse Cayman, Wellness Centre, DCFS, MASH, Family Resource Centre, NAU and YMCA;
  • Works closely with HR on all relevant training and volunteer procedures
  • Identifies any additional students' needs for information and advising on Health and Wellness. In collaboration with staff and faculty, creates programmes and services to meet those needs.

 Compensation:

  • Salary Range KYD $62,508.00 – KYD $84,036.00 per annum. (GRADE J)
  • Contributory medical, pension and annual leave (20 days).
