Business Studies

Greetings from the Chair

I am delighted to welcome you to the Business Studies Department at The University College of the Cayman Islands. Our department endeavors to provide the best business educational opportunities to our students and the wider society through market-driven course development, technology-driven teaching, effective community interaction, community service, and conducting pertinent research. For this reason, the goals and objectives of the department are focused on promoting academic excellence through institutional commitment, teaching and learning, service and research. With the support of our partners, we strive to prepare graduates who are innovative, flexible, entrepreneurial, business-functional, and adaptable to the ever changing environment.

The Business Studies Department at The University College of the Cayman Islands offers diverse programmes in business administration, management, and accounting at the Bachelor’s and Associate’s degree levels. Our offerings also include a minor in Human Resources management and concentrations in management and accounting. The department remains relevant to the Cayman Islands community and businesses by delivering innovative programs such as the Cayman Islands Banking Certificate (CBC); Business-in-Action Experiential learning; and partnering with industry to deliver workshops and seminars on local, regional and global issues.

Our department is unique in that it prepares our accounting students for various components of the Uniform CPA exam and also to compete at the annual Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge. Students also have the opportunity to participate in an International Practicum and many have travelled to various countries in the region where they have gained holistic learning experiences. The department continues to create new ways of learning and has entered an on-going joint agreement with Cayman Islands Department of Commerce and Investment to use students from the Small Business and Entrepreneurship classes as volunteer consultants to work with local entrepreneurs.

“You matter at UCCI” and this mantra is expressed in our department’s everyday operations. We welcome you and thank you for visiting our website. Enjoy your academic journey with us and we look forward to serving you as we strive to make a difference in our community.
