Mr. Mitch Ebanks
Mitch Ebanks, BA, MSc, University of the West Indies
Mr. Mitch Ebanks has worked for the University College of the Cayman Islands for the past seven years and presently serves as the Director of Student Services.
He lives in Savannah with his wife Cherryl and beautiful daughter Brooke.
Mitch attended the University of Minnesota where he studied to be an Addiction Counsellor before moving to Toronto, Canada, where he studied as a Human Services Counsellor majoring in Addictions and Criminal Justice.
He is seen as a pioneer of the Counselling field in the Cayman Islands, after coming back home to assist in establishing Governments Outpatient Counseling Services. He has counseled in many settings that include the schools, caring homes and HMP Northward. He was instrumental in advocating and implementing the first Residential Treatment Facility in Grand Cayman where he worked for seven years, the last years being in charge of the facility as its Clinical Supervisor.
It was during his time at the Residential Treatment Facility that he decided to return to school and read for his MSc in Counselling at the University of the West Indies. This time he focused on the youth of Cayman with his thesis, “Identifying Risk and Protective Factors of Youth in the Cayman Islands”.
Mitch thoroughly enjoys the challenges that theyYouth of today bring and finds that being at UCCI is a fantastic reward in helping the youth of the Cayman Islands become the leaders of tomorrow.
Mitch has represented the Cayman Islands in Taekwon Do at both the regional and international levels and has played tennis as well, competing in many junior tournaments and the Island Games.
Most recently, he has served his community as President of the Lions Club of Grand Cayman 2011-12.
